Activities for Students

Welcome to the Student Activities Page! Here you can test your climate change knowledge and create a personal TravelLog that will help you fine-tune your responses to the questions in the emissions calculator!

To make the most of these activities, make sure you’ve already given the Individual Emissions Calculator a try, and that you’ve spent a little time reviewing the emissions maps. Then, answer the Comprehension Questions below to test how well you understand the connections between your emissions and travel choices. Expand your horizons by cruising around the “About GHG Emissions” section to learn a thing or two about alternative fuel technologies and how land development impacts our travel decisions. After you feel like you’ve become a Climate Change and Transportation Guru, give the Interactive Quizzes a try, and test what you’ve learned from interacting with the TravelMatters site!

Remember, to keep track of your transportation choices over the next weeks and months, use the handy on-line TravelLog to record and save the types of transportation you use and the miles you travel.

Now, take the next step and get serious about your travel choices: use the TravelLog for one week to see where you can start making some changes to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions! Apply the information you record in your TravelLog to the emissions calculator, and see how you can start reducing your emissions by changing the types of transportation you use.
